About us

The Brain and Behavioral Processes Laboratory studies cognitive and affective neuroscience as related to human executive and emotional/motivational functions. We aim to develop a greater understanding of the neural substrates and mechanisms that underlie human behavior.

We have conducted many studies on adolescent brain and behavioral development and are particularly interested in how deviations in “expected” processes lead to psychopathology, as well as the impacts that substance use and other kinds of experiences have on the brain and subsequent behavior.
